Websites have many functions and can be used in various fashions; a website can be for personal use, or commercial, government site or an organisation for non profit.  Websites can be the work of an individual, a business or other.  They are typically dedicated to a particular topic or purpose... 

What types of Websites are there?  Well the answer is many and they are just as varied, although we can break them down a little further.  Basically we can divide websites into two broad categories, being "Static" and "Interactive" .  A Static site serves to provide information and capture information but does not allow engangement from the audience directly.  An Interactive Site allows activtiy between the user and the sites owner.  

From here the amount of websites and types and configurations broaden dramatically, as site owners strive for individuality, online systems, sales, forums, galleries, e-commerce, advertising, selling or blogs and the lists go on and on.  So where to start?
